Keep in step with ~/.ssh/config

Turn it on

1. Open Settings › Connections & SSH and turn on Keep in step with ~/.ssh/config.
2. Open Hosts. The SSH config folder holds every host from the file and the files it includes.

Changes to the file show up within seconds.

Edit the hosts

Editing one of these hosts writes the change back to the file, one block at a time. Comments, order and settings Sternway doesn’t use stay as they were. Hosts from included files are shown but never changed.

Caution

Deleting a host in the SSH config folder deletes its Host block from the file.

How Sternway connects to them

It uses ProxyCommand, ProxyJump, IdentityFile, IdentitiesOnly, User, Port, ForwardAgent, the forwards and ServerAliveInterval as ssh would. A host’s details list what else the file sets that Sternway ignores.

The SSH config folder stays on this computer and is never synced.
