A macro is a snippet whose Kind is Macro. Run it like any snippet.
1. Write the steps
Section titled “1. Write the steps”Put one step per line in Steps:
send sudo -iwait for "password for"send secret identity "Ops admin"wait for /[#$] $/ 10ssend systemctl restart nginxsendtypes the rest of the line and Enter, with variables and built-ins filled in.wait for "text"orwait for /pattern/waits for that output, 30 seconds unless you give a time.send secret identity "Name"types that identity’s saved password,key "Name"a key’s passphrase, andhost "Name"a host’s saved password.pause 2swaits. A line starting with#is a comment.
2. Know when secrets are typed
Section titled “2. Know when secrets are typed”A secret is typed only:
- into a terminal it belongs to (a host’s password into a session to or through that host), never a local terminal;
- right after a wait whose line is still the last one, and is a password prompt ending in
:.
It never reaches the window, scrollback, recordings, logs, AI or a shared session. If another password prompt follows (a wrong password) or none comes, the macro stops and types nothing more. Locking the app stops every macro.
A macro only reaches secrets in its own vault, so one shared with a team can’t type your personal passwords.
