Tailscale (desktop)
Section titled “Tailscale (desktop)”Choose Hosts › New › Import from Tailscale…, then a source:
- This computer’s Tailscale asks the Tailscale app here (
tailscale status --json). No key needed. - Tailscale API asks
api.tailscale.comwith an API access token (tskey-api-…) and your Tailnet name. The key is used once and not stored, so give it a short expiry and revoke it afterwards. - For Headscale, set Control server to the Headscale address and use a key from
headscale apikeys create.
Connect by picks the MagicDNS name or the Tailscale IP. Mark as Tailscale SSH tags devices that run Tailscale SSH and leaves their password and key empty.
AWS EC2 (desktop)
Section titled “AWS EC2 (desktop)”- Open a group’s editor: Hosts › New › New group, or Edit group.
- Under Cloud sync, turn on Sync hosts from a cloud provider and choose AWS EC2, the region, an optional Name-tag filter and the refresh interval.
- Enter an AWS access key that can list EC2 instances. It stays on this computer and is never synced.
Each running instance gets a host whose address follows it. Sternway only reads the list. The other providers listed aren’t implemented yet.
The local network
Section titled “The local network”Choose Hosts › New › Discover devices on this network… (on the phone, Hosts › +). For ten seconds, Sternway looks for machines announcing SSH or SFTP over multicast DNS, then lets you add them.
